Spongebob Squarepants: The Cosmic Shake – When Can We Expect Some Gameplay?

So it’s been over 2-months since The Cosmic Shake was officially announced. And outside of that initial batch of information, we haven’t really heard much of anything since.

But considering all we got was a pre-rendered, CGI trailer with no gameplay being shown. I’m sure a lot of you are just as curious as me, concerning when we might see some actual gameplay.

Well, the short answer is. Sometime before the game releases.

Okay, I’m pretty sure many of us already figured that one out. But jokes aside, since Purple Lamp Studios are the ones developing the game. We’ll have to look back at the patterns set by their previous project, Battle For Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated. In order to get a more accurate idea as to when we’ll possibly see our 1st glimpse at some gameplay.

So let’s rewind back to June 2019. When Rehydrated was 1st announced.

We didn’t get to see any sort of gameplay, until roughly 2-months later, on August 23rd, 2019. During Gamescom 2019 via a press only, behind closed doors demo. Which was only accessible to content creators, & press sites like IGN who attended the event.

But here’s the thing, it’s been over 2-months since the reveal of The Cosmic Shake. Gamescom 2021 took place before the games reveal, and November is already almost over.

So that leaves The Game Awards, taking place on December 9th, which is currently 2-weeks away. And this is considered to be THE last big gaming event of the year.

So it’s possible they could show off some gameplay there, even though it’s still around 2-months worth of waiting compared to Rehydrated. Maybe even longer in the event the game doesn’t appear during TGA.

In which case, and once again looking back at Rehydrated, we could be looking at PAX East 2022 (in late April) as a likely place to see some gameplay. Which is about 7-months from the announcement, almost the same as Rehydrated.

If that happens, then the wait will actually be a bit longer before we get to see some any sort of gameplay. But here’s hoping something’s shown at The Game Awards.
