PS5 1st Official Details & The Matter of Backward Compatibility

So Playstation & Insomniac Games Mark Cerny officially revealed the 1st ever details about the upcoming system. I also went ahead and posted the original article above so you can read the full thing.

Anyways, Insomniac Games Mark Cerny (Spider-Man, Ratchet & Clank, Spyro) has been working on this system’s development. In the article Cerny discusses and demonstrates this new consoles (early build) capabilities with Insomniac’s recently released Spider-Man. Compared to the same game running on the PS4 Pro, it takes about 15-seconds to get to a different location with the fast travel feature (basically a load screen). While on this early build console, it now only takes 0.8 seconds. That’s impressive.

Now onto the matter of Backward Compatibility. 1st off there’s no mention of PS1, PS2 or PS3 BC involved. Just BC for the PS4, nothing for PS1, PS2 or PS3 yet (likely be revealed in the future). Which’ll work rather well as Sony plans to release numerous exclusive games for both systems (which I think is a 1st for the main PS consoles with exclusives). Something that I never even considered after hearing the new Ratchet & Clank on PS4 rumor (which could be revealed during Playstation’s next State of Play).

So again I left the article at the top of this article, as I was mainly highlighting my thoughts on this article. As I don’t quite fully understand all the tech specs, but I know enough that’s it’s going to be powerful system for sure.

Anyways, What do you guys think about this? Be sure to let me know in the comments below.
