So yesterday Playstation revealed some new gameplay from my favorite level from Spyro Year of the Dragon. Frozen Altars, Reignited.
Now what did with this level is great, even the music. Even adding onto the levels skybox and adding extra mountainous terrain. Now some are having complaints about the penguins redesign, but I like their redesigns. As they match the original very well. Even seeing Spyro use his ice breath was a nice change after using fire in every other level in the trilogy.
But all the way up until now, I haven’t complained about anything in the Reignited Trilogy. Going by the above Frozen Altars footage, there seems to be a Lot more grass compared to the original.Which this level is supposed to give more of snowy/icy impression instead of a tundra feel.
I think in the original there had more of a blue-ish tone to the level, in this footage it appears more sunny however.
But the 2-previous examples are minor compared to the last one and that is the giant snowman. It’s not the design, which I like really well. But rather the sound it makes when picking up and throwing Spyro. Since more realistic sounds were used it just doesn’t have that same humorous feel to it anymore, compared to the original which used cartoony sounds. But other than that the levels looks really good, which I think it’s too late for Toys For Bob to fix some of these things in the level. Especially since were only 10-days away from launch. Okay onto the next topic for Spyro Reignited.
Playstation posted this gameplay of the MetalHead level from Spyro 1 in the Reignited Trilogy. At first you don’t really notice much of anything until further inspection you’ll notice something that shouldn’t be there. As in, a new crystal dragon. In the below Tweet, YouTuber VTNVIVI points out that there shouldn’t be any crystal dragon on top of this building when looking at the original.
Could this be a new dragon? I don’t know, but Toys For Bob did say that they want to have some surprises hidden (I’m not sure the exact way they worded it) until launch day. But this is an interesting find and we’ll only have 10-more days to find out.
In addition to all this we also got a new look at another of my favorite levels from Spyro 3, Spooky Swamp. This time it does look more like a swamp than the original did.
Anyways, what do you guys think about this? Let me know what you think in the comments below.
