E3 2017: Sonic Forces, Sly Cooper, Spider-Man and Crash Bandicoot new info, trailers and gameplay

E3 2017 has already been over with for about a week now, we’ve already got some big news from the show and some not from E3. So I got a lot to cover so let’s get started.

Let’s start off with Microsoft’s new Xbox One X, which releases in November for around $499. As I’ve said before it claims to be the most powerful system ever and eliminating console generations. I’m not going into tech specs, I’ll leave that to somebody in that field.

Sonic Forces finally got a new trailer and gameplays from E3 2017, and in return we see the return of Shadow The Hedgehog, Metal Sonic, Chaos, Zavok, Dr. Eggman with the Egg Dragoon and Eggmobile in Green Hill, along with a new villain who is probably the new power previously mentioned called Infinite. The new poster for the game does look like what the movie could look like. The Ivory Wisp and a closer look at the desertized Green Hill with a giant crab battle mech chase and more vocal music. Now a week or so ago before E3 2017 Sega released a song from Sonic Forces, which played during the Park Avenue Custom Hero Stage. Now it seems like the custom hero will get all the vocal music, while Modern Sonic gets pure instrumental tracks and Classic Sonic gets the Classic arcade sort. Chemical Plant is also mentioned by Silver in game, so Chemical Plant might return. According to a video done by Gamespot, Shadow appears at the end of the Modern Sonic Stage of Park Avenue, Shadow is probably Park Avenue’s boss. The games story is still pretty much the same, even after E3 2017 we still don’t have any additional story details or cutscenes. Now that was some great animation Marza did at the end of the E3 2017 trailer (same animation as the 2018 Sonic Movie), it’s actually the first time we seen Shadow, Metal and Chaos in CG Marza Animation, Zavoks first CG appearance since Lost World, last time we saw Shadow in CG was Sonic 2006 in Blur Studios animation.

Crash Bandicoot is back in just two short weeks for the PS4. After eight – nine years of waiting for a new Crash Bandicoot game since Crash Mind Over Mutant in 2008-09 (not counting Skylanders Imaginators). With E3 2017 we got to see new gameplays, the launch trailer, Coco Bandicoot Playable in all three games and remastered intros for all three games. The success of Crash Bandicoot N-Sane Trilogy will determine the development of more Crash Bandicoot games.

Insomniac Games, best known for it’s Playstation Exclusive Ratchet & Clank series, is now developing a series of Playstation Exclusive Spider-Man games for Marvel. A new nine minute gameplay trailer for the game was released during E3 2017 alongside a playable demo, which shows the Ratchet & Clank PS4 engine utilizing more advanced manuevers, actions, combat and cinematics, now I’m not saying Spider-Man is better than Ratchet & Clank. Spider-Man PS4, unlike earlier reports of 2017 release, at E3 2017 it was officially announced that it will release in 2018. The gameplay trailer alone got 5.6 million views in just one day, now that’s impressive for a video game, now the last games to get that many views in that amount of time was Ratchet & Clank PS4 (story trailer), Crash Bandicoot N-Sane Trilogy (the comeback trailer), Sonic Mania and Sonic Forces (counting views from both Sonic and Nintendo Youtube Channels adds up to about 1.5 million views for the E3 2017 trailer). Even the announce trailer for Spider-Man PS4 got 15 million views in just a year.

Now onto the still unclear news on the Sly Cooper topic. The Sly Cooper movie news that was supposed to be released this month I think has already been released. However the news is not what anybody was expecting, because we were expecting movie news instead of a TV show announcement. Yes, a Sly Cooper TV Show is in the works by Technicolor Animation Productions and Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), Sony announced the TV Series on June 14th, 2017, global distribution will be handled by PGS Entertainment. Now Technicolor Animation Productions is also the same studio that has developed Alvin and the chipmunks for Nickelodeon and Sonic Boom for Cartoon Network, Sonic Boom is another TV Show based on a video game (Sega’s spin-off of Sonic The Hedgehog), which is currently airing it’s second half of season two on Boomerang. This must be what they meant by Sly coming to the small screen first then the big screen.

The shows plot synopsis: “Sly Cooper follows the adventures of an irresistibly charismatic raccoon, a modern-day Robin Hood, who restores justice to his city one theft at a time. Sly is aided by his two best friends, a muscular hippo named Murray and a brainy turtle named Bentley. Hot on Sly’s trail is Inspector Carmelita Fox, a morally upright cop with an unfortunate crush on the charming bandit, as well as a band of villains, each one more strange and colorful than the last.” Now the decision to make a TV show than a movie was probably a better idea, because if you look at the Ratchet & Clank Movie (which I like), some aspects of that movie would’ve been better as a TV show like more weapons, characters, adventures, gadgets and more time to tell the games’ stories, also possibly cover all the games. Rainmaker has said that they are no longer involved with the Sly Cooper movie, but maybe involved with production in the future, now the film has not officially been canceled like the Legend of Spyro movie back in 2010. Blockade Entertainment is producing the TV Series of Sly Cooper, they were originally producing the movie. Now it’s very unlikely the show will wind up like the Ty the Tasmanian Tiger TV Show that was announced way back in 2004, which is believed to either be scrapped or canceled. Playstation and Sony might also be trying a different approach for the Playstation Originals, because their last few tries haven’t gone so well with Powers not being well received as a PSN exclusive and the Ratchet & Clank movie not doing very well in theaters. This time have one of their most popular franchises (Sly Cooper) be released as a TV Show rather than a PSN exclusive, to get a wider audience the show would have to be aired on either Cartoon Network, Nick or Disney, seeing as PGS Entertainment is a partner of these companies. The show was not announced at E3 2017. More on this later, because I already spent to much of this article talking about Sly. Anyways the show I’m expecting to air on CN in 2018, we could see a trailer at PSX 2017 in December. Also to further support my theory that the show coming to CN in 2018, is that Toonami was credited in Sly 3 and Toonami’s Tom appeared as a gadget with a cheat code in Sly 2, Toonami is owned by CN for those who don’t know that, why Sony and Sucker Punch allowed CN to do that I have no idea.

This was a very long article to do, I know I said Sonic 25 years of a video game icon part 4 was coming soon, well delayed a little bit with E3 2017 and other announcements and trying to create new videos for the Youtube Channel, which more will be up soon, the top tracks of the week I really need to change those for every two weeks.
