This is the first post in a series covering various Sonic the Hedgehog topics and news. At the Sonic 25th Anniversary Party back in July 2016, Sega announced Sonic Mania, a teaser for Sonic Boom Season 2, and at the very end they announced Project Sonic 2017. Not very much is known about the game outside of playing as Modern Sonic in 3D and Classic Sonic in 2D similar to Sonic Generations. Sega did announce there will be a new character and gameplay component outside of the regular 2D and 3D stages, Dr. Eggman is the Main Villian and the game is categorized as Action/Adventure. New information and possible new trailer for Project Sonic 2017 and Sonic Mania are expected to be announced at the Gotta Go Fast: The Official Panel of Sonic The Hedgehog which starts at 5:00pm CST (23:00 GMT) at SXSW 2017 on March 16 in Austin, Texas. Project Sonic 2017 is planned for a Holiday 2017 release for Xbox One, PS4, PC and the newly released Nintendo Switch. Sonic Boom[which is in it’s second second season] is currently airing every Saturday evening at 6:00 PM on Boomerang. More information on Sonic Mania (which releases Q2 2017) will also be at the SXSW 2017 Sonic Panel. Sonic the Hedgehog started back on June 23, 1991 on the Sega Genesis and has appeared in 83 different video games, 5 TV series and the first ever theatrical film for the series is scheduled to speed into theaters in 2018. The film is expected to be a CG live/action hybrid, characters for the film have been said to have redesigns, but nothing extreme and will still keep the look and feel of the Sonic the Hedgehog games.
